2011 Projects

Soup and Chili Day -- The MSI Volunteer Committee held a Soup and Chili Day on January 19th to start off the 2011 fund raising year with a bang. The Volunteer Committee members each made delicious homemade soups, chili's and desserts to sell as the fund raiser for this quarter. This event raised $169.00 which will go towards the charity chosen for 2011. There are four charities that are being considered for the funds raised in 2011 and each of the employees will have a chance to vote on which charity they would like to see be the recipient this year.

The occasion was also marked by the appearance of Jerry Bloom who's foundation "Wish of a Lifetime" received all of the funds raised in 2010. The Volunteer Committee presented Jeremy and his foundation with a check for $750.00 which will grant many seniors a chance to fulfill a dream they may have had for their entire life!

Foothills Animal Shelter -- February is our pet friendly month so this year the volunteer committee collected donations of food, toys, blankets, towels and pet supplies for our furry friends at the Foothills Animal Shelter. Our Broomfield office collected 2 large boxes of items to donate to the shelter. This is always one of our favorite in kind collections and we love helping out with our four legged buddies.

East Park at Interlocken -- Once every quarter, the Broomfield office Volunteer Committee volunteers to clean up the East Park at Interlocken as a project for the City of Broomfield. The City has placed a placard at the park designating that MSI is the steward of this park and March 2011 was our quarterly obligation for this activity. This is a good time of year to get out and get all of that winter trash picked up and to get everything clean for spring. This park is a great place to enjoy a nice sack lunch or to just go for a lunch time stroll.

MUCHO NACHOS!!! -- The Volunteer Committee of Broomfield sponsored a Nacho Bar as the fund raising event for the second quarter of 2011. The Committee provided the makings for a great dish of nachos. Then to cool off your mouth, there were Lemon Bars to top off the meal. This was a great fund raiser towards our efforts for the Family Tree, this year’s recipient of all funds raised by the Volunteer Committee.

Roll Out the Barrels -- Our Volunteer Committee at Broomfield, partnered with the attorneys at Orten, Cavanaugh, Richmond and Holmes, LLC and participated in the “Roll Out the Barrels” Food Drive. We collected all sorts of canned and boxes goods to give to the Food Bank of The Rockies. We all know there are so many people needing help these days, so we are always willing to give a helping hand to the Food Bank.
